Psalm Lab Weekly — 7th July 2026

Welcome back, folks! It’s a new week, so here are our updates. I didn’t post a video last week because I was busy working on systems and my title screen for Destiny: The Dark Age, a game I’m developing.

The game industry has faced layoffs again, with 3,200 people affected at Xbox. My thoughts are with everyone impacted. It’s important to care about how creative industries are impacted and to support healthy policies for everyone’s benefit. I regularly post job openings on Bluesky to help one developer at a time.

If you’re interested you can check that out on my Twitter.

Here Be Dragons

This week were talking about Ahamkara, Cabal and Psions — All in an attempt to build up to the connective threads discovered in Destiny’s lore involving the Hive and Savathun as well and this week’s video touches on that. So be sure to look out for it once it uploads.

Next Lore Videos

It goes without saying, that Destiny’s lore is in an extremely exciting place, and Monument of Triumph has found a fantastic way of giving people a reason to care about it. So, in that vein the next two lore videos are all about The Hive and catching on where their stories are and how this will expand. Following that will be a fun little video all about Clovis Bray, but we probably won’t get to that until August.

Background story beats are honestly some of the strongest Destiny has going for itself. So, I’ll continue to focus on producing videos with all my thoughts properly structured and laid out.

Destiny — The Dark Age In Development

Finally, this update probably won’t come as a surprise.

During the last week, I had the most amount of fun working on the concept for dark ages. That posted I shared on Twitter has received 134.4k views in just three days. And every ounce of credit goes to the groundwork the Bungie team have laid to even make my concept possible.

This inspired me as a creator to keep writing and addressed a long-time interest in game development. I have decided to start creating a sandbox concept for an FPS MMORPG that lets players switch between their preferred modes in the world of Destiny’s past.

No timeline promises, but I’ll keep you all updated as I make incremental progress on that.

Book Drafting Progress

Many of you already know, that I have been writing a high fantasy novel series for the last 12 months.

Things are progressing at a natural pace, albeit slow depending on what I have to do with my normal day job. But currently were working on the prologue. Making sure it sets up a lot of the backstory for future events later on in the book.

I don’t have any excerpts to share with you, but I can tell you the prologue is sitting at 283 words right now. Giving readers a reason to care about this story is really important. Which can only be achieved if the story is grounded and you as a person can relate to some part of the protagonists experience.

Alongside that, I already submitted my funding application to Creative Scotland for a small bursary to help with funding aspects of the books editing, and drafting process. As a neurodivergent writer having good support is critical and I most definitely need a good editor to work with.

I’ll keep you all updated on how that progresses.

For now though that’s all I have for you this week! — Stay hydrated out there.

Stay safe and Godspeed! 🚀
