Hello there! Welcome to anotther PLW update It has been quite sometime since my last update, but I am really thankful to each and every one of you who’ve continued to support me and stay up-to-date with anything I post whenever I have something to share.
So uh! September flew by and I didn’t get to post this update on the 15th as I had originally planned. This is however, the perfect time to get you caught up on the latest!
Where Have I been?
Back in August I suffered from a significant burnout and mental health breakdown. This was in part due to the difficult year I’d had last year. Alongside this was coming to terms with more of the neurological challenges that comes with being Autistic and ADHD, overstimulation, mental fatigue, social overwhelm and the list goes on.
Some will understand and some won’t. Ultimately, I needed to stop. Which meant taking time off for basically turned into two months. During this time I rested and sought medical advice or support where I needed it and honestly…. I needed it. If ever you find yourself in a similar place? Get help, don’t do life alone.
Are we back? Honestly, this is a strange question to me. Was I ever gone to begin with? Perhaps. The good thing about being completely still is being afforded the blessing are the benefit of the three R’s (Rest, Reflect and Revaluate). I quickly realised too much was happening for me and I cannot keep up with it all. Tomorrow I turn 39, the last vestige of my thirties and the pinnacle of realisation for so many things in my life. Going into it in my old man (former self) isn’t an idea that brings me joy at all. That means weight has to be shed literally and figuritively.
I’ll circle back to what this means for the future towards the end of this update.
All Things Soulframe
Yes! Many of you who are regular viewers on the channel will on undoubtedly already have slaked your thirst on the bontiful harvest of lore I had to share in my recently Soulframe lore video and its one which I am terribly proud of. It took months to put together for many reasons.
The main reason being I needed time to recover.
The video delves into the history of the Fey and humanity in Alca, where there histories intersect and what that means for present day in the world of Soulframe. Since this video DE released Hook & Hound their latest update. Truly it’s been fun to experience, so I hope you’ll check it out.
Bungie Announcement!
The climb to the mountain top was perilous but after the communities rally, last month we watched the closed curtain lift on Destiny 2 once again in Bungie latest announcement if you haven’t heard. After the community “Not going gently into that good night.” Sony were forced to do a complete 180 degree on the Destiny series. Which is arguably the linchpin of what makes Bungie, Bungie ( go figure).
The reason this is a big deal is because in the midst of ram prices skyrocketing, and CEO’s laying off thousands of talented people. Seeing a studio resureccted from dead is a MASSIVE deal. It doesn’t happen.
The video goes into detail:

- Failure as employers and letting go of talent
- The Unvaulting of all Destiny 2 campaigns
What does this mean for the Psalm Lab YouTube channel? The great thing about this is. I can TAKE MY TIME! Am I commiting to regularly uploading Destiny lore videos again? BIG FAT NO! We cannot go back, and I don’t intend to. It does mean I can finish my lore videos and potential do more in the future without pressure.
And 9 years worth of content is still relevant on YouTube it wasn’t all for nothing. Not that it was, but… from a monetization perspective you know how it is.
VEILSCORCH News!
What have been doing with all my extra time? Well, telling my own stories is what. I introduced many of you to the VEILSCORCH and the world of Paradius. In my recent post I talked about Aurora, well after some thought and research I changed the name of the book.
This is because it kept being confused with another book from a different author which wasn’t great because the theme’s didn’t match at all.
Were still currently in draft of chapter 5, currently sitting at 4k words soon to be more. Some of the bigger challenges of writing Veilscorch has been world building. When I first began drafting a lot of the deep lore and larger stories in Paradius were still locked away in my mind.
Since then I have dedicated significants amounts of time to work building and making sure as many things referenced in story are delicioiusly detailed in the books pages. Honestly, I am very excited about this book. In many ways it is a small part of my wider motzart or van goh painting. I spent so many years enjoying and sharing stories written by other writers or authors, but never my own.
This changed during my time away and I cannot wait to share more about Aurora, Leit and the machinations of Scoura in this high fantasy tale.
What is the story like?
VEILSCORCH is an adult high fantasy novel; think LOTR’s Elves of Riven meets Apple TV’s Silo in this epic dark elf’s quest to uncover the truth. For any of gamers out there? This book has a lot of Destiny and Horizon Zero Dawn vibe to it.

I cannot say just now whether the publishing route to take will be Indie or Traditional each has their benefits and challenges. The publishing industry has changed a lot since the pandemic, which means having an audience beforehand is really important. Which if I am honest is not something I am good at or enjoy.
I hope to do some sort of video about Veilscorch in the future, but the plan as of right now is to complete the first draft of the entire book. Chapters 1 through 4 are more or less completed. Once chapter 5 is wrapped up. The real end game begins.
For now, I hope you all take care of yourself and touch some grass when you can.
