Tap, tap, tap! This thing on? Alright! So, last week was an interesting week. We ended up writing and planning a new line of books “The Downfall Series.” A fantasy world set on a planet during it’s earliest moments, and it’s all about Dragons.
Each novel has a name already, but I won’t be revealing those until I am ready. How did this happen you ask? Well as I was working on codename: frontiers my first book. I quickly realized that a lot of its character overlapped with another childhood story I’d written which lives in the same folder.
At that moment it times it made sense for me to start crafting what in the PBU (Paradius Book Universe). A bit of a spoiler for any bookworms out there. The idea is simple to unify the world all my characters exist it. The Downfall series will act as a prequel way, way before the events taking place in present day in frontiers.
What This Means For Progression?
It meant needing to slow down and go back to World building in a more effective way. As we speak I have many sheets of paper in front of me I wrote at the ripe age of 14. Characters from a game I wrote, story book idea and a movie.
All their stories intersect in what is a huge and expansive story across a particular region. In order for me to tell the story well, I need to develop the road map properly. Sometimes drafting and developing is painfully flow. But I am fully confident it will bear good fruit.
1,422k Words Written
This is how many words I have already written in Book one of “The Downfall Series,” with 861 words in the prologue so far and 561 words in Chapter one. I am actually stunned at how much I have been able to write in such a short space of time. Given the topic though it makes sense.
My next plan is to spend some time brushing up on mythologies pertaining to dragons in order to anchor my story and give it the weight and honour it deserves.
I am still decided on whether adding romance to the story would be a good idea. It isn’t the most important element, but I do wonder if adding a little spice to it would be interesting and perhaps add some mystery.
